Road Trip: montreal in summer

balconiesI’m so behind on sharing some of our tiny trips this summer. Instagram makes me super lazy. We had a really great time this trip and feel like we got to know the city much better, even with just 24 hours to explore. We’re ready to move to the Plateau, especially into the houses around Square Saint-Louis. Anyone who’d like to offer me a job where I could learn French as I go: call me.

This Montreal Places board on Pinterest that Annie and I have been adding to is getting pretty extensive, so we clearly have to drive up when the leaves start turning, right? There’s something to be said for the fact that being in a city makes me feel like a happy normal human being. I should probably explore that.

  1. I love reading about your travels and love following them on Instagram!

I know what you mean about places that make you feel like a happy normal human being – California is that for me. That’s where I most often feel like I am really LIVING (but maybe it’s because I’m always there on vacation).

I can’t believe my parents allowed this, but when I was 16 my mom lent me her minivan and I took a road trip up to Montreal and Quebec City with 5 of my girlfriends – it was incredible! We drank at some of the clubs in Quebec City, visited waterfalls and historic forts, and went to the biodome in Montreal. It’s been too long since I’ve been back!

  2. Hi Tamera,
I just discovered your blog via Peonies and Polaroids, and I am completely in love with it! Your photos are absolutely stunning. I’m adding you to my regular blog reads for sure! Come visit mine sometime, I’ve also been blogging about my various summer travels, and I love new blog friends!

  3. Montreal looks lovely. There is so much in the details. Totally with you on the City thing. I found that the thing I really missed was going to the theatre (something I very much took for granted whilst I had access to it).

  4. Let it be known: if the whole French thing wasn’t so difficult, Montreal would be overgrown with the same folks that all realize it’s awesomeness. That being said, it’s one of the most affordable cities in Canada with that big city vibe, and I laughed at my Mtl friends bemoaning the fact that real estate in the Plateau has risen to $600k or so. FOR A TRIPLEX aka 3 apartments, or a 2 unit option. I was like “that’s a goddamn steal! Have you seen what things go for in Vancouver or Toronto? Or NYC. Or SF. Geeeez”. So yeah, count me in. I’d love to go back in a heartbeat.
